The Iceline Trail

The Iceline trail is one of the most scenic hikes within Yoho National Park. Along the way, you'll see many glaciers, waterfalls, tarns, alpine flora and fauna. Yoho National Park is vast with many sights and sounds.

The Hike
Beginning from Yoho Lake, the trail ascends through pine forest emerging into alpine amidst the remnants of glacial moraines.

Flowers grow among the rocks.

You'll see the extensive rocky areas revealed by the receding glaciers. Even in the summer months, it can be quite cool.

A moraine provides a high point along the Iceline trail. Despite the cloud cover, the views are still grand. The scale of the nearby mountains, glaciers and forest is difficult to convey through photos or words.

The vast open areas provide unobstructed views of the surrounding area. For a closer look, you can make your way to the tow of the glacier.

There are a few stream crossings. Rocks have been arranged to make a pathway across the water.

Below the glacier, the tarns are a pale blue. The shoreline makes a great spot to have lunch or an afternoon snack.

Final Thoughts
The Iceline trail traverse through pine forest, moraine, below glaciers and alongside tarns. With views of the surrounding mountains, the trail provides a sense of the vastness of the park. If you only have a few days to visit Yoho National Park, the Iceline trail is the perfect place to spend your time.
