Mosquito Creek - Mo5 Campground

Beginning at the parking lot for the Mosquito Creek Wilderness Hostel, this hike ascends up the Mosquito Valley. With brief views of nearby mountains, the trail will lead you alongside Mosquito Creek. Continuing along the trail, you'll arrive at Mosquito Creek Mo5 Campground. This is a place for an overnight or a rest stop for lunch. There are picnic tables and pit toilets. From the campground, you can make your way further up the valley or, by backtracking a short distance, you can cross over Quartzite col to the area beyond.


The Hike

Driving along the Icefields Parkway, park at the parking lot nearby Mosquito Creek Wilderness Hostel. On the opposite side of the road, the trail follows the Mosquito Valley to the Mo5 campground.



You will have excellent views of Nooseum Mountain.



Watermelon Peak



In the distance, Quartzite Peak, Ramp Peak and Mosquito Mountain hidden behind some trees.



Shortly before the bridge, you can take a faint trail to ascend Quartzite col leading to Devon Lakes nearby Mount Willingdon



The Mo5 campground has tables, a toilet and campsites sheltered by the nearby trees. Water is easily accessible from Mosquito Creek.



Final Thoughts

The hike to Mosquito Creek Mo5 campground is an enjoyable day hike or overnight. More importantly, it can serve as a first stop along the way to Fish Lakes, Devon Lake, Mount Willingdon or many other scrambles in the area.
